What Does 67 Mean?

67, said “six-seven,” is a meme with no fixed meaning. Kids shout it, often with both palms up, moving alternately up and down, and the point is that it means nothing. Dictionary.com chose it as its 2025 Word of the Year and called it “impossible to define.” It comes from a 2024 drill song, “Doot Doot (6 7)” by the Philadelphia rapper Skrilla. In numerology 6 + 7 = 13, which reduces to 4.

What does 67 mean to kids?
Mostly nothing. It is an in-joke you shout at the right moment; Dictionary.com notes some use it to mean “so-so” or “maybe this, maybe that.”
Is 67 a bad word?
No. The sources describe it as meaningless, not as an insult. Some schools banned it because kids would not stop saying it in class.
Why 6 and 7?
From the song. Video edits paired it with the basketball player LaMelo Ball, who is listed at 6 feet 7 inches.
What is the 67 hand gesture?
Both palms face up and move alternately up and down, a gesture Dictionary.com links to “so-so.”
67 in the Bible? Spiritually?
The meme has no religious meaning. Numerology reduces the number to 4. Numerology and angel numbers →

Where does six-seven come from?

The words come from a song. In “Doot Doot (6 7),” Skrilla raps “6-7” just as the beat drops. Wikipedia dates the first release to December 2024 and the official one to February 7, 2025. What he meant is unclear. People have pointed to 67th Street in Philadelphia, and the linguist Taylor Jones has guessed at a police ten-code; NPR compares the police theory to the spurious claim that 420 came from a police code. Skrilla told interviewers he never gave it a meaning and would not want to.

Basketball spread it. Video edits set the song over clips of players, most of all LaMelo Ball, who is 6 feet 7 inches tall. On March 31, 2025, a YouTube video showed a boy at a youth basketball game, Maverick Trevillian, yelling “six seven” with the palms-up gesture, and he became the 67 Kid. Dictionary.com says searches for 67 increased more than sixfold from June onward.

In late October 2025 Dictionary.com named 67 its Word of the Year. Its explanation says: “Perhaps the most defining feature of 67 is that it’s impossible to define. It’s meaningless, ubiquitous, and nonsensical.” The same piece notes you may see it written 6 7, 6-7 or six-seven, “but the most important thing is to never pronounce it as ‘sixty-seven.’”

What 67 means to kids, and how they use it

Kids use it the way older generations used an inside joke: the meaning is that you get it. Dictionary.com gives two loose senses, “so-so” and “maybe this, maybe that,” plus a third, a stand-in answer to any question at all. A teacher NPR spoke to listed the triggers: how tall are you, what time is it, what is that. Any 6 and 7 in a row will do, from a phone number to a 67% on a test.

Schools noticed first. Wikipedia records classrooms that banned it, and adults kept getting caught in it: in November 2025 the British prime minister, Keir Starmer, apologized to a head teacher after joining pupils in the gesture at a school that had banned it, and in December JD Vance joked about banning the numbers after his five-year-old shouted “6-7” in church. By the logic of the meme, the right reply to a child who says it is no reply.

Other number memes and codes

Six-seven started a small wave of number memes that are spoken digit by digit and mean as little as possible. Older codes like 143 work differently: each digit stands for a word.

Google also suggests searches for a meaning in the Bible and in Islam. The meme has no religious meaning in any source we read, and no religious tradition we know of gives the number one. Dictionary.com also lists “six-sendy” as a spinoff, a mashup with “get sendy.”

67 in numerology and its spiritual meaning

The digits give 6 + 7 = 13, and then 1 + 3 = 4. The words themselves are not the code here, so there is no phrase number to compare: 67 is two digits read aloud.

  1. The code. 6 + 7 = 13, then 1 + 3 = 4. Number 4: builder →
  2. The arithmetic. 67 is a prime number: nothing divides it but 1 and 67.

In numerology 4 is the builder, the number of order and routine, a funny result for a meme whose whole point is to make no sense. Numerology is optional here; the meme means what the kids using it agree it means, which is not much.

Angel-number sites do write about it, as they do about any number, and read it through its digits. The meme gives it no spiritual sense, and no older tradition reads it as a sign. Decode any number →

How we made this page

The Number Atlas editorial team wrote this page with the help of AI, and a person edited it. What the number means comes from the dictionaries, code lists, and news stories named in the text, which we read on October 24, 2026; where we found no source, as for 67 in the Bible, we say so. Every number on the page, from the digit sum to the factors, the root and the day of the year, is worked out by the same code that runs the tool, and the page does not build if a sum in the text or a code in the table stops matching. Numerology is a symbolic tradition and predicts nothing. A number code means what the people using it agree it means.
