What is Destiny Matrix compatibility?
It is a couple's chart built from two personal Destiny Matrix charts. You do not get a verdict like "compatible" or "not compatible". You get a third chart, with its own center, lines and karmic tail, that describes the relationship as if it were a person of its own.
The method uses birth dates only. Time and place of birth play no part, which also means it works for any pair: partners, friends, a parent and a child, two business partners.
How to calculate matrix compatibility by hand
Start with each person's own chart: day, month and digit sum of the year give points A, B and C; D is their sum; the center E is the sum of all four, each reduced while above 22. Then add the two charts point by point. With March 15, 1990 and June 22, 1992:
- Point A. 15 + 22 = 37, reduced: 3 + 7 = 10.
- Point B. 3 + 6 = 9.
- Point C. 19 + 21 = 40, reduced: 4 + 0 = 4.
- Point D. 10 + 13 = 23, reduced: 2 + 3 = 5.
- The center. 11 + 8 = 19. The couple's arcana is 19, The Sun.
The love line, the money line and the karmic tail are added the same way, position by position. Here the two personal tails are 21-4-10 and 21-7-13, written from the center outward. Adding them gives 42, 11 and 23, which reduce to 6, 11 and 5: the couple's tail is 6-11-5.
A common shortcut, adding up every digit of both birth dates, gives a different number and is not how the matrix works.
How to read a couple's chart
Read the center first. It sets the tone for every other position, the way a key signature sets the tone of a song. Then look at the couple's task at the bottom of the chart, because that is where most arguments come from, and only then at the lines of love and money.
Why did we meet?
That question belongs to the top point of the couple's chart, the sum of both birth months. It is read as the bright side of the union: what each of you saw in the other at the start and what the pair does well together.
Calculators label the side points differently. The top point, for example, appears as "what brought you together" on some sites and as "the pair's talents" on others. We use the labels that two or more published calculators agree on and note where they differ.
Which couple's arcana is most common
1 and 2 never land in a couple's center. A personal center is never below 3, so two of them add up to at least 6, and reducing a larger sum never gives 1 or 2. The most frequent centers are 16, 15 and 17; 3 and 4 are the rarest, at about 3 couples in 1,000.
What each couple's number means, in one line
| Center | Arcana | A couple with this center |
|---|---|---|
| 3 | The Empress | abundance, care, creativity |
| 4 | The Emperor | structure, authority, order |
| 5 | The Hierophant | teaching, tradition, mentors |
| 6 | The Lovers | choice, union, values |
| 7 | The Chariot | drive, direction, control |
| 8 | Justice | balance, fairness, consequences |
| 9 | The Hermit | solitude, study, inner wisdom |
| 10 | Wheel of Fortune | cycles, timing, luck |
| 11 | Strength | courage, patience, gentle force |
| 12 | The Hanged Man | pause, surrender, a new angle |
| 13 | Death | endings that clear the way |
| 14 | Temperance | moderation, healing, blending |
| 15 | The Devil | desire, attachment, temptation |
| 16 | The Tower | sudden change, broken structures |
| 17 | The Star | hope, renewal, calm |
| 18 | The Moon | imagination, fear, the hidden |
| 19 | The Sun | joy, success, warmth |
| 20 | Judgement | awakening, family, a second chance |
| 21 | The World | completion, the wider world |
| 22 | The Fool | beginnings, freedom, risk |
Each name links to that arcana's page, where the section on compatibility describes such a couple in full.
The couple's karmic tail
The pair tail is the three numbers at the bottom of the couple's chart, added point by point like everything else. It is read as a pattern the two of you fall into together, often one you both recognize from your families. Unlike a personal tail, a couple's tail can be a combination no single person has. The example pair above has 6-11-5: The Lovers, Strength and The Hierophant. Read together, that is a couple whose old loop is choosing each other again and again by family rules instead of their own, and whose way out takes patience rather than force.
What the matrix cannot tell you
There is no compatibility percentage in this method. Sites that show "73% compatible" are using a formula of their own. A difficult center is not a reason to leave, and an easy one is no promise. Treat the chart as a list of good questions for the two of you, which is why every position above comes with one.
Two calculators can also disagree. Some reduce large sums by subtracting 22 instead of adding digits; on our 200,000 pairs that changed the center for 95.7% of couples, and it makes every personal center an even number, which contradicts published charts. We add digits. Rebuilding the couple's chart from the summed A, B and C, another shortcut, changed the center for 70.2% of the same couples.

Questions people ask
Does the order of the two dates matter?
Not for the couple's chart. Addition gives the same result either way.
Can I check compatibility with a friend or a parent?
Yes. The chart describes any relationship between two people; only the love line is specific to couples.
Why is there no compatibility percentage?
The Destiny Matrix does not produce one. A percentage would be a number we made up.
How is this different from zodiac compatibility?
Zodiac compatibility compares two signs and their elements. The matrix uses only numbers from the birth dates and builds a third chart for the pair.
We got a "hard" arcana in the center. What now?
A hard center, such as 15 or 16, names the strain the couple already feels, which makes it easier to talk about. Every arcana also has a balanced side; its page describes both.
Can the matrix show my ideal partner?
Not from one date alone. Your own chart's love line describes how you love and what you need from a partner; open it with the personal calculator. Compatibility needs both dates.
Why does another site show 1 or 2 in our couple's center?
Because it adds differently, for example by summing all the digits of both dates or by subtracting 22. With the point-by-point method used here, a couple's center is never 1 or 2.
